| Romance in Venice, Verona and Como Call for dates in 2021/2022 Venice - This is not going to be the Venice of cruise lines or large tours – this is a visit to the Venice of the Venetians. Right from the start as you land at Marco Polo Airport... You will be greeted and guided to our private water taxi. There is nothing so uplifting then traveling over the glittering waters (after a long flight) with small islands and the steeples of Venice on the horizon. And so we come to the Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli on Canale Grande - truly a palazzo with its own boat entrance. Time for a siesta or wander around if you feel up to it. Get ready for your first Venetian dinner in a local restaurant. Start the next day with a lovely breakfast and then meet our guide, who will take you on the footsteps of Giacomo Casanova. Strolling around the narrow alleys you Will discover the romantic side of Venice. The walk follows the life of Casanova – a true romantic Venetian. The tour will end at La Fenice Theatre, one of the most famous Italian opera houses. You can then walk around on your own, and if you want to find the real Venice I suggest a stop in one of the many little bacari – away from the crowds. Have a typical, most delicious Cichetti (Venetian ssmall sandwich) and a Prosecco, a wine spritz or Aqua minerale. Group meets for dinner and then attend a concert at Scuola di San Teodoro (walking distance from dinner close to the Rialto Bridge) by the Musici Veneziani in 18th century costumes and music like Vivaldi’s “the Four Seasons”. Return to hotel at leisure. | |

The next day after breakfast will take us to one of the many islands around Venice – Murano. Murano actually consists of 7 small islands connected by bridges. We shall visit a glass blowing factory, have lunch in one of the typical Murano restaurants and then have some time to stroll around to buy some souvenirs. We’ll return to Venice and hotel by a vaporetto – time for a short rest or stroll on your own. Don’t go to far because – well what would romantic Venice be without a gondola ride with a singing gondoliere. After that you are on your own, have dinner and pack. Verona - early breakfast and check-out, then take our water taxi to Tronchetto where the coach awaits us. Our trip is about 1 and half hours through a lovely scenery with the mountains on the horizon. On arrival in Verona we shall embark on a mini site seeing tour. Highlights are the famous arena where wonderful operas are performed and (our romantic goal) the house of Juliet and the famous BALCONY. All this is followed by a lunch in a typical Veronese trattoria. We then board our coach and travel up into the hills of the famous lake region to Como on Lake Como. Our Hotel Barchetta Excelsior, lies one block from Lake Como. After check-in you can walk around to stretch your legs, look at the lake and have dinner on your own in the dining facilities of the hotel. After breakfast we are boarding the coach and traveling to Lago Maggiore (Lake Maggiore), where we will visit the three famous Borromeo islands: Bella, Madre (famous for its gardens) and Pescatore. We shall have lunch in a local restaurant on Isola dei Pescatore. – the only island with a village. We return to Como by coach and you can rest, walk around town and find a place for dinner on your own. Last morning on the lakes – After breakfast we check out and load suitcases on the coach. Then we take off to the lovely Villa D’Este on Lake Como for a guided tour of this famous Renaissance mansion turned hotel and the gardens. Lunch on your own and then we travel south to Milan. Milan - In order to give you a taste of Milan there will be a guided tour hitting some of the highlights like the Duomo and then a farewell dinner. The coach will then take you to the hotel close to Malpensa airport; which will give us the luxury of not having to get up at 5 o’clock in Como to make our flight.
