A Taste of Vienna -Mini Tour

This Mini-tour is offered between April and October 2008– Bear in mind that the Culinary Institute will close for summer vacation from the middle of May until the middle of September – a similar venue will be substituted.
The price of $2,085 per person, land only, in a double room, is based on minimum of four people.

The price is based on the current exchange rate of the Euro vs. the Dollar (January 2008) i.e. any cost increases caused by a weakening dollar shall have to be passed along to client.


Services include:

  • 6 overnights with buffet breakfast at 4 star hotel (e.g. Johann Strauss, Tigra or similar)
  • 2 cooking classes at Restaurant Drei Husaren (1 normal & 1 pastries)
  • 1 cooking classes at Culinary Institute “Am Judenplatz”
  • Welcome dinner including beverages
  • Farewell dinner including beverages
  • One wine tasting
  • Two private walking tours with English speaking guide
  • One general City sight seeing entrances as mentioned
  • One week pass and one single tickets for public transportation
  • One “Apfelstrudel” show at Café Residenz incl. coffee & strudel
  • One coffee and pastries at Konditorei Demel
  • Arrival & departure transfer in private car with English speaking driver

Mini Tour Itinerary

Day 1

AM arrival at Vienna airport, transfer to hotel in private car with English speaking driver
03:30PM pick up from hotel for half day private walking tour with guide in the Inner City area
06:00PM Welcome dinner at Vienna's oldest Restaurant Griechenbeisl. Three course menu, wine, mineral water, coffee.
Short walk to U-Bahn (subway), take it back to the hotel

Day 2

Buffet breakfast at hotel.
08:30AM leave hotel with U-Bahn to St.Stephen's stop and walk to first venue "Drei Husaren" one of Vienna's leading haute-cuisine restaurants.
09:00AM 1st cooking lecture and eat what was prepared soft beverages and coffee at Restaurant Drei Husaren
02:00PM Pick up by shuttle for sight seeing tour at hotel
02:45PM half day Vienna city tour by regular sightseeing coach including a visit to Schönbrunn Palace.

Day 3

Buffet breakfast at hotel.
08:30AM leave hotel with U-Bahn for cooking class at Vienna’s leading culinary school “Am Judenplatz”.
09.00AM 2nd cooking class and eat for lunch what was prepared including soft beverages and coffee at Culinary Institute “Am Judenplatz”.
Afternoon free at leisure – visit one of Vienna’s many museums.

Day 4

Buffet breakfast at hotel.
Morning free at leisure for shopping or visiting a museum.
02:00PM attend an “Apfelstrudel” show at Café Residenz near Schönbrunn Palace including coffee & strudel.
06:00PM wine tasting at ‘Heuriger” of locally grown white wines (typically Viennese wine tavern – weather permitting outside) Werner Welser in Heiligenstadt on the outskirts of Vienna combined with a hearty fare, mineralwater, coffee.

Day 5

Buffet breakfast at hotel.
09:00AM 3rd cooking lecture (pastries) at Restaurant Drei Husaren followed by tasting of same, soft beverages and coffee included afternoon free at leisure – some more sight seeing on own.
O8:00PM Mozart concert by Wiener Mozart Orchester in one of Vienna’s lovely concert halls Kursalon.

Day 6

Buffet breakfast at hotel.
09:00AM private walking tour with guide incl. visit of Vienna’s famous glass manufacturer Lobmeyer’s glass museum and the Habsburg Imperial Silver and Table wear collection at the Imperial Palace.
Noon Coffee and a choice of the famous pastries at Konditorei Demel.
6:30PM with U-Bahn to restaurant.
7:00PM Farewell dinner at renown Restaurant Fino at Palais Kinsky or similar three course menu, wine, mineral water and coffee.

Day 7

Buffet breakfast at hotel.
AM transfer from hotel to Vienna airport in private car with English speaking driver for departure flight.

In preparation for your tour, you may wish to cook these authentic recipes from the Culinary School in Vienna. With this meal, you may enjoy the wines chosen by the Austrian Director of "The Tavern on the Green" that complement this menu.
